QTSCD consortium: gene-finding for QT interval variation.

The QTSCD consortium was created as a collaboration between researchers of the SardiNIA study and the KORA study, a study of the population in Augsburg. The aim was to find genetic variants that influence QT interval, a measure of heart repolarization, and thus better understand the causes of sudden cardiac death (SCD). Other research groups have joined this consortium, including: the HNR study, which studies a population in Germany, the GenNOVA study, which studies an isolated population in Sud Tirolo, and the ARIC study, which studies European and African Americans . The results have been published on 2009 (Pfeufer & Sanna Nat Gen 2009).
