Past PhD Students

Esteban Alexander Lopera Maya

Esteban has a degree on Biotechnology from the University of Antioqa (Colombia).  I supervised him at the University of Groningen, with Prof. Cisca Wijmenga and Prof Sasha Zhernakova as main promoters and Dr/ Patrick Deelen as second daily supervisor. His thesis focused on methods development and application to find causal factors of complex diseases using biobank data. Esteban graduated in May 2-23 and he is now joining a research team in UCLA to study genetic of psychiatric disorders
